There is nothing that flatters me more than a referral. The fact that a previous couple, family member or friend likes my work enough to tell a bride or groom to trust me with their wedding, there is nothing better! When I am blessed with one of these gems I always make it a point to try and go above and beyond for these couples and make their wedding experience an amazing one.

It was one Big, Fabulous Greek Wedding! My couple from October 3rd, Emma and Mark, were referred to me by a mutual friend and after meeting Emma, we hit it off. We discovered we were fellow sorority women from Grand Valley State University! It made their wedding that much more special, knowing I would know several Greeks attending the wedding. This was actually the second "Greek Wedding" I did this summer and I loved seeing guests I know from my college days.

Emma and Mark chose Blythefield Country Club for her venue, both during the ceremony and reception. For their color palette, a deep purple infused with shades green and ivory. This was carried throughout the design with succulents, eucalyptus and gorgeous floral from Posh Petals. I helped Emma along the way in her planning process and my primary function was executing her vision on the day of the wedding. From the invitation on, I always say your fonts, colors and paper choices should be consistent to pull the entire look of your wedding together.

For Emma and Mark's wedding, I designed the invitations and place cards, all of which turned out beautiful. We even designated meal choices by the different types of succulents...come on, so cute! After several meetings and going through all the details, we were ready for Emma and Mark's big day! Special Occasions West provided linens for the chairs and tables, helping to make all of the elements in Emma and Mark's wedding picture-perfect!

Who would have thought (especially with the amazing weather we are having now, sorry Emma!) that it would be freezing cold and raining all weekend just barely into October! The ceremony unfortunately had to be moved inside and this is where having a good team comes into play. Working with the Blythefield team (the coordinator Lindsay there is phenomenal), we flipped the space by moving guest tables and centering the ceremony in front of the picturesque fireplace, making a cozy setting. My team added floating candles with sunken eucalyptus (a design element we did on the spot) to dress up the space. Emma had picked out a wealth of stunning decor to work with so much of our morning and afternoon was spent playing around with the set up to make it phenominal.

Overall, everything came together and the ceremony and reception remains as a favorite of mine. Emma and Mark love each other so much and this shined through all the rain that day (cheesy I know, but true!). The dance floor was packed all night and the dinner and dessert was delicious (thank you Cakabakery for your amazing naked cakes!). Things don't always go as planned but as a bride and groom, if you can remain calm through any bumps and trust your vendors to come through, I can promise your wedding will still be everything you could have hoped for.
xo, Kelly
