"Can I be your wedding planner and guest?" "Yes!"

Planning weddings for people I know adds an extra pressure onto my job...and it honestly is something I welcome. When I attend a wedding and am not involved in the planning, my husband has to continually remind me that I am a guest, and I probably shouldn't be offering to get the mother of the bride a beverage or bustle the dress! With all that I do for my business, it can be difficult to sit back and enjoy a ceremony when I see it not going as smoothly as I would have liked...this is my passion, after all! I want for my friends and family what I want for all my wedding couples: a stress-free day and for them to look back and just be thrilled with how it all came together.
When exploring the idea of hiring me, I often get the comment that they want me to enjoy the wedding too...which causes the question, "how will you do this if you're the planner?" Easy. I plan up through the start of the reception and then I become your guest. But, I can't do it alone.

I've mastered the two roles, due to my experiences, the amazing team I have been blessed with, and a helper I hire to run the remainder of the night (trust me it is all downhill from this point). With all of the help, I get to maintain involvement in the weddings I have booked, while sharing memories with my loved ones during their special day. It is truly the best of both worlds!
That being said, for one upcoming wedding in particular, the pressure is on...and I couldn't be more excited.

You want to know whats even better than having your best friend be your Maid of Honor? Having your best friend be your Maid of Honor annnnnddd a super awesome, amazing, spectacular (if I do say so myself) wedding planner! Thats right, next fall I will be a Maid of Honor and wedding planner and it has been a truly seamless experience. Meet Brittani, a gal for whom I am determined to create an unforgettable wedding experience.

Much of wedding planning takes place leading up to the event and how smoothly everything runs on the wedding weekend is a reflection of the strength in the planning process. Brittani is getting the best of both world in having my help as the MOH and the planner, plus she gets incentives like having an awesome engagement shoot by Ever After Studios (and we can't deny how amazing the pictures have come out).

Needless to say, this adventure I am taking on with Brittani and Gerald is bound to be exciting! Side note, can we acknowledge how Copper, Brit and Gerald's adorable pup, totally stole the show?!

When I asked Brittani if I could hijack her engagment session to make it a stlyed shoot, I couldn't believe how quickly she said yes! For the design, my goal was to infuse a soft, romantic look in a wintery setting. In styling, it all comes down to the intricate details. For the first setting (seen above) I purchased the watercolor custom save the date mugs from a vendor on etsy, the vintage sled from an online garage sale, spray painted a cake plate and displayed Cakabakery's amazing snickerdoodle cookies.

Most importantly, I needed to bring in amazing floral to get the right look. For that I called my fav, Damsel Floral! Kaci went above and beyond with the bouqet, floral focal piece, and pops throughout inspired by the Pantone colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serentity. Needless to say, it turned out even better than I could have ever pictured it in my head!

For setting two, THE WOW, I purchased apple crates from again, my online garage sale (nerd-alert!), borrowed some of Kaci's amazing rose gold vessels, added rich red apples, the euclyptus swag, and a fancy cheese plate and boom, perfection!

Wedding planning should be a wonderful experience, it shouldn't be stressful and I hate to see couples reach the point of "I want it to be over." This blog article isn't intended to pressure those family and friends out there to hire me. Instead, I want to spread the word that it is possible, and I love you so why wouldn't I want to help make your wedding day amazing?

I am only successful because of the people who have supported me along the way and I helping with their weddings is the icing on the cake!
XO, Kelly
